Fire-Detecting Robot
A flame sensor steers a robot toward a small flame and triggers a fan or pump to put it out.
Start building ↓The build
Add flame sensors
Mount sensors that detect a candle's IR.
Wire the drive
Standard motor driver and wheels.
Add a snuffer
Fit a fan or water pump at the front.
Hunt & douse
It drives toward the flame and blows it out.
Flame sensors detect the infrared from fire; the robot turns toward the strongest reading, approaches, then triggers its extinguisher.
A closer look
It's seek-and-act behaviour using directional sensing, a simplified model of real fire-fighting robots. Always supervise the flame.
Variables to test
- 1 Add more sensors — better aim at the flame?
- 2 Compare a fan vs water for snuffing speed.

Obstacle-Avoiding Robot
An Arduino car reads distance with ultrasonic sound and steers itself away from walls.
Line-Following Robot
Infrared sensors keep a small robot glued to a black track as it races a loop.
Bristlebot
A toothbrush head, a coin motor and a battery make a buzzing bug that scurries across the table.
